Carbon Fiber Layup

Working with a group of engineers on the aero subteam, I built a carbon fiber hood of the electric race car. We traveled to Leading Edge Composites, a carbon fiber manufacturer just outside of Philadelphia. I learned the steps of this layup, adding carbon fiber layup to my skill set. The hood came out very well with no cracking and even distribution of epoxy in the carbon fiber. We decided to include copper mesh inside of this body component so as to electrically ground the carbon fiber.
